The Africa Kyokushin Karate Association (AKKA) was formed on 3 May 2003 by Shihan Cele and several senior instructors after resigning from the IFK-SA of which he served as the General Secretary for many years. They included Pay, Chamu, Mandla Mlotshwa, Mxolisi Mhkize, Joseph Mhlakza, Oupa Mokoena and others.
Since then, the AKKA has continued to grow with branches now in Gauteng, Eastern Province, Free State, North West and Mpumalanga.
In May, the AKKA celebrated its 10th Anniversary!
Shihan Cele is a member of the WORLD INDEPENDENT BUDOKAI (WIBK) under the leadership of Kancho Henk Kuipers and Fuku Bernard Creton as well as the WORLD KUMITE ORGANISATION (WKO) based in Pattaya, Thailand via the South African organisation as well as being a senior member of the WORLD CONTACT KARATE FEDERATION (WCKF).
